So, it turned out so well, I just had to share it with you. Our screened in porch had a big heavy block of wood as a step going into the house. After we redid the porch, (the ceiling and floor and paint, new screens, etc.) there was still the ugly slider to replace. It would still be a little while for that project, but I knew I could do something about the plain chunk of wood we had as a step.

Screened in Back Porch Step Before Stencil
Having an obsession with aqua at the time, I used the same Benjamin Moore Grand Entrance door and window paint in Poolside Blue that I used for the back door. I painted the entire step and there was a definite improvement but it needed something more!
An artist I am not! I cannot even draw a stick person! True Story! I’m never chosen as anyone’s partner in Pictionary. The art gene apparently skips a generation! So, being honest with myself I decided to go the route of a stencil. I chose one from The Right Stuff shop at Etsy. I measured my step, chose my fonts and saying and she did all the rest! Once my stencil arrived, I closely followed the enclosed directions.

Simple as pie! Love the way it turned out, and ironically I did this step before we found the adirondack furniture and rug for the porch, so it worked out perfectly!
